"Hell hath no fury like Manchester City scorned," or at last that appeared to be the case as Sergio Aguero thundered five past Newcastle United on Saturday to put his side back on top of the Premier League table.
The Citizens rose from a goal down to defeat the Magpies 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium, where Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne were among the star performers for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Just as City made their rise, however, reigning champions Chelsea were decimated 3-1 at home to Southampton as captain John Terry made a disastrous return to the Blues' starting lineup.
Crystal Palace and Leicester City managed to keep their places among the top four following wins over West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City, respectively, while West Ham United rescued a 2-2 draw at Sunderland.
All that and much more ensured Saturday's Premier League slate was an unmissable one, with recap, results and a look at the latest standings detailed ahead.

Saturday Recap

Aguero channelled his inner-Robert Lewandowski on Saturday as he did his best to replicate the Bayern Munich man's five-goal haul against Wolfsburg last month by embarrassing Newcastle in similar fashion.
City started slowly and were caught unaware as the Magpies opened the scoring through Aleksandar Mitrovic, only to concede three minutes before the break as Aguero headed the hosts level.

It wasn't until the second period that Aguero's devastation reached its climax, though, adding another four to his tally in the space of 17 minutes in addition to a smart volley from summer signing De Bruyne.
Aguero had just one league goal to his name this season prior to Saturday's tie, but he now looks more like a Golden Boot favourite as Match of the Day attested to his efficiency in front of Tim Krul's goal:
Chelsea's misery continued at Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho's side fell 3-1 to the Saints in what was their second successive defeat, not to mention their third consecutive match without a win.
Willian put the west London hosts ahead with a long-range free-kick, but Steven Davis, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle struck back to record a memorable win for the Saints.
Entering the final phases of Saturday's result, Bleacher Report's Garry Hayes insisted things could have been worse for Mourinho's men, too, as Terry and Gary Cahill were exposed as lightweights in defence:
Not only is a points haul of eight points from eight games damning, but the Blues have now lost twice as many games (four) as they've won in the Premier League this season (two).
While Manchester City may be an expected name among the Premier League's hierarchy, Crystal Palace make for a bigger surprise in third place following their 2-0 win at home to West Brom on Saturday.
Yohan Cabaye contributed another match-winning display for the Eagles, setting up Yannick Bolasie's opener before converting a second from the spot, leaving manager Alan Pardew in awe, per the Press Association:
Tony Pulis' Baggies struggled to muster the same attacking threat and were deservedly made to look second-best, but the same might not be said of Norwich City as they succumbed to Leicester City 2-1 at Carrow Road.
The Canaries have been in threatening form of late after putting together a four-match unbeaten streak and will have been slightly upset to lose 2-1 to the Foxes considering they had a respectable 64 per cent possession, per WhoScored.com.

Alex Neil's side also had more shots (17) than their guests (16), but Jamie Vardy and Jeffrey Schlupp netted either side of half-time, meaning Dieumerci Mbokani's first Premier League goal was nothing more than a consolation.
The summer arrival from Dynamo Kiev also hit the woodwork but was unable to earn his team a point, although Rob Butler of BBC Radio Norfolk still held the striker in high regard:
What could have been a bright day for the Black Cats quickly turned dark at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against West Ham United.
Forwards Steven Fletcher and Jeremain Lens put the home outfit two goals up to set Sunderland on track to a first win of the campaign, leaving manager Dick Advocaat in tears, per the Times' George Caulkin:
However, Carl Jenkinson scored on the stroke of half-time to give the Hammers a lifeline, and Lens saw red not long after the restart to allow Dimitri Payet an equaliser, both teams sharing the spoils in the end.
Elsewhere, Stoke City clinched their third successive win after triumphing 1-0 at Aston Villa thanks to Marko Arnautovic's 55th-minute decider, while top-flight new boys Bournemouth and Watford drew 1-1 at Dean Court.
Odion Ighalo kept up his strong vein of scoring form to cancel out Glenn Murray's opener on the south coast, a draw that both teams can be settled with as a fair result
